At Avocet Health Partners, our collaboration with the Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management at the SC Johnson College of Business, Cornell University, is driven by a shared commitment to leveraging business expertise for social good, particularly in the correctional healthcare sector. The Dyson School, renowned for its rigorous academic programs and focus on applied economics, strongly emphasizes sustainability, social impact, and ethical business practices. This focus aligns seamlessly with our mission to improve the quality of healthcare for vulnerable populations within the correctional system and to promote positive societal change through our services.
By working closely with Dyson’s esteemed faculty and ambitious students, we are able to integrate cutting-edge research and innovative solutions into our correctional healthcare programs. This partnership enhances our capacity to support high-quality, evidence-based outcomes for our clients while contributing to the broader objective of advancing social justice and health equity in the correctional environment.
Our ongoing projects with the Dyson School are a powerful testament to the transformative potential of collaboration between academia and industry in addressing complex societal challenges. Together, we are pushing the boundaries of what is possible at the intersection of business and social purpose, creating a future where economic success is deeply intertwined with ethical responsibility and social impact.
An important focus area for us is the Grand Challenges program, which underscores our dedication to addressing the unique and critical challenges in correctional healthcare. The Grand Challenges program, a cornerstone of Dyson’s mission, is a collaborative effort that brings together students, faculty, and corporate partners to develop innovative solutions for pressing global issues, including public health and inequality, which are especially prevalent in correctional settings.
As corporate collaborators, we leverage this partnership to apply the latest interdisciplinary research to the complex problems of correctional healthcare. By integrating cutting-edge academic insights with our expertise, we create scalable solutions that improve the quality of care for incarcerated populations, enhance operational efficiency, and promote overall health equity within the correctional system.
Through our involvement in the Grand Challenges program, we are not only advancing our business objectives but also demonstrating our unwavering commitment to the broader goal of transforming correctional healthcare. This collaboration helps shape the next generation of business leaders who are deeply committed to social responsibility and making a meaningful impact in underserved communities. It reinforces our belief that sustainable business practices and social justice are essential drivers of long-term success and systemic change.

We are committed to advancing the field of correctional healthcare through innovative, client-focused solutions. To support this mission, we have created the Management Fellow position, offering students a unique opportunity to engage directly in the complexities of correctional health across all of our service lines. As Management Fellows, students work closely with our team to tackle real-world challenges in this specialized sector, gaining hands-on experience in business development, client engagement, and operational strategies tailored to the needs of vulnerable incarcerated populations.
This program is designed to immerse students in the multifaceted world of correctional healthcare, where they apply their academic knowledge to enhance the quality and efficiency of our services. Whether it’s optimizing healthcare delivery systems, developing strategic initiatives, or supporting expert witness services, Management Fellows play a crucial role in driving our mission forward. Their involvement not only enhances their professional skills but also brings fresh, innovative perspectives to our work, helping us better serve our clients and make a meaningful impact in the correctional health landscape. This program exemplifies our dedication to cultivating the next generation of leaders who are passionate about social justice and healthcare reform.
