In the late 1980s and early 1990s, she foresaw the digital revolution in her industry, working tirelessly to create systems that would transform how we connect and navigate complex environments. Her business, named for the elegant avocet—a bird symbolizing grace, adaptability, and resilience—was on the brink of changing her industry forever.

The avocet’s migratory nature, covering vast distances with determination, mirrors my mother’s journey and the ethos of this firm. Despite facing the ultimate challenge—her battle with breast cancer—she embodied the avocet’s grace under pressure, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire and guide us. Her vision was not just about transformation but about making meaningful connections, understanding diverse needs, and bringing hope and care where it is most needed.

Today, Avocet Health Partners, a proudly SBA-certified Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business based in Chicago, extends this legacy into correctional healthcare management and consulting.
